Community Housing Program
SHARE's Community Shared Housing Program was created to locate and convert vacant community homes for group living spaces. SHARE manages these homes through a mutual agreement with the property owner (who lives elsewhere), collecting monthly rent from the renters and paying the property owner/manager directly. Also as part of the agreement, SHARE ensures that each bedroom is rented to an individual at all times, leaving no vacancies. These community houses are households filled entirely with home sharers. This model is better suited for individuals who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability for long periods of time and who are being provided intensive supportive services through SHARE case management. The goal of this program is to create a supportive and safe home environment and provide a network for those participating in the Shared Community Housing Program. Community Housing candidates may utilize their HUD housing vouchers for both Sonoma County and the City of Santa Rosa.
